My first Russian Blue was bought by saving up my pocket money. After Purdy died aged 13, I was without a cat for 16 years. I was working as a theatre lighting technician/stage manager and on tour much of the time.

Finally after the birth of my son and a change of career to horticulture, I felt my life was stable enough to embark on pet ownership once again. Flower and Dino, two Russian Blues from London, entered our lives. Tragically Dino got ill and died just before his 2nd birthday. Flower however has proved to be an excellent mum producing a total of 21 beautiful bouncing kittens. She has been a very patient teacher with me, even when I don't always get things right!

We now have a total of 5 Russians in our house including a gorgeous Russian Black called Coco who I'm hoping will take over from Flower when she retires this year.

The best part of breeding is the moment a young kitten choses it's new family. Kitten and carers leave to embark on a new journey together and I know yet another household will fall under the Russian spell.

I'm proud and honoured to serve on the RBBA committee and I know just how much joy the little blue cat from Russia can bring.
